The Golden Gloves is the Nation's oldest and most prestigious amateur boxing tournament which
began in 1923 and has been a New England tradition since 1947 making this its 70th year in
existence. The Western New England Golden Gloves, which includes the State of Connecticut
and the Western side of Massachusetts to include Worcester, allows all amateur boxers in its
geographic area to compete in a six night tournament establishing one winner in each of the ten
weight classes. The winners of this tournament will continue on to the covenant New England
Golden Gloves Championships held in Lowell, Massachusetts for the right to represent New
England at the National Golden Gloves Tournament of Champions.
